We are happy to announce the launch of the new Harris Security Agency (HSA) custom website! HSA is an Ottawa-based security agency that offers trusted security solutions and protection services primarily in Ottawa, but also Toronto and beyond. They offer such services as security guard patrols as well as executive and dignitary protection.
The owner, James Harris, was looking for a new way to generate business and came to ABORG with the idea of selling security training courses online. However, his previous website was quite outdated and not in the position to attract young security students or employ an e-commerce system. Take a look at their old site below:
The site above clearly needed some improvements in order for it to become a viable online business. Our project with Harris Security included a full redesign of the website in terms of its look, layout and functionality. We re-developed it from scratch in a way which would strengthen the HSA brand image (professional looking website), strategically lay out important content, and appeal to its target audiences to influence sales in security services as well as the new online training programs.
We used dark backgrounds and bright shades of yellow, HSA’s corporate colors, and big, bold typography to give the site an authentic ‘detective’ feel. The website also has a certain ‘powerful’ or ‘strong’ ambiance which speaks well to the quality and reliability of HSA’s security services. We used high-resolution images of their staff and students instead of stock photos to help communicate their values and identity, and to create a sense of trust.
The result is a modern, sleek and professional-looking responsive website.
The layout of the site and content itself is also quite different, helping to position HSA as unique from its competitors.
We used a PayPal e-commerce system to facilitate the online purchases of the training programs. This is a very simple and cost-effective means of doing e-commerce for many small businesses wishing to add an online stream to their revenue generation.
As mentioned, the site is also responsive (mobile-friendly) meaning that its layout adapts naturally to any mobile device for best presentation and user experience.

All the content scales down to one column, allowing for the user to easily read the information and navigate to where they wish to go on the site with ease.
With mobile device usage continually on the rise, having a responsive website is increasingly becoming expected. This is important as it better allows anyone to still make purchases no matter what device they are on, and it also says something about HSA, where the advanced functionality and professional look of the website reflect their brand and services.
